Ziad Fayad, M.D.
Specialty (ies): General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Varicose Veins
Dr. Ziad Fayad, is a Board Certified and Fellowship trained vascular surgeon. While he is trained in many general and vascular procedures, he specializes in advanced vascular and endovascular surgeries, which refers to surgery on arteries and veins as well as within arteries and veins. This specialty deals with all types of vascular disease, including arterial occlusive disease, aneurysmal disease (bulging of arteries), lymphatic and venous disorders. The advanced endovascular techniques used by Dr. Fayad involve smaller incisions and repair of vessels that standard techniques may not be able to reach.
Dr. Fayad is passionate about endovascular techniques because they can really minimize complications and provide a shorter recovery time, making a huge different in patient comfort. These techniques involve placement of small wirebased instruments through small incisions rather than the large incisions required by traditional surgical approaches.
Dr. Fayad studied with a pioneer in the field who used this approach for venous ulcerations, a disease that affects the veins in the legs, and post-thrombotic syndrome caused by a blood clot that forms in a vein. Of the first 15 cases performed with this technique, five were performed by Dr. Fayad.
Dr. Fayad enjoys caring and working with his patients during, what can be, a very difficult time for them. “I think it’s extremely important for patients to understand exactly what I am doing and what they should expect.”
He enjoys swimming, soccer and reading. He and his wife, Rose El Jbeily, have a young son and enjoy being part of the Michiana Community.
